The Uryen (宇理炎) are 2 statuettes made of earth, of approximately 20 centimeters, from the Jomon period (5000-1500 BC); one seems to represent a woman and the other a man; probably representing opposed forces, the male an offensive or positive force, maybe Yang (陽) due to the sword motive, and the female a defensive or negative force, maybe Yin (陰) due to the shield. Their origin, purpose and creator is unknown.
Appearances[]
The Uryen in Forbidden Siren[]
The first one to know about the Uryen was Tamon Takeuchi's father (Omito Takeuchi); later in 1976, both Uryen statuettes were taken by Miyako Kajiro (1976), trapped in the secret basement of Miyata's clinic along with the Uryen by Hisako Yao, which possibly knew about the power of the statuettes.
In 2003, Shiro Miyata discovers Miyako and obtains Uryen from her, later he passes one to Kyoya Suda in the nest. Shiro uses his Uryen in order to free the failed shibito and himself, while Kyoya uses his to defeat both Jun Kajiro and Datatsushi; later he uses it to exterminate all the Shibito in Hanuda.
As a weapon, the Uryen requires the life-force of its user. Kyoya Suda was able to use the Uryen an unlimited amount of times probably as a result from having the Kajiro's blood. With Shiro Miyata, the use of the Uryen caused him burns in the arm he used to wield it.
The Uryen can permanently kill a Shibito or a Yamibito by unleashing blue flames upon them. There are two methods of releasing the fire, as demonstrated by Kyoya Suda; one is by concentrating a massive flame into one spot, and the other is by sending down fireballs to devastate enemies across a wide range.
The Uryen in Siren: Blood Curse[]
In Siren: Blood Curse the Uryen is now a black cube instead of a earth figurine, it is found by Seigo Saiga within the mines in the Gojaku Peak during the second timeline, then uses it against Kaiko after its ressurection, setting it on fire. Then it is used by Howard Wright against both Seigo Saiga and Kaiko, destroying them both in a similar way to how Kyoya destroyed Jun Kajiro and Datatsushi.
The Uryen is then kept by Howard, who uses it to destroy the shibito from Hanuda.
