Its primary export was Misumi tin prior to closing down in 1965 due to depletion of ore reserves; carts that were used to ferry ore from the mine to the plant in Janokubi Valley are scattered across the area on tracks. Strange phenomena involving mysterious bodies of light are commonly reported here.[1]

This is the place where Namiko Yoshikawa from chapter 1 of Another Story was spirited away whiile searching for mysterious lights, but since the abandoned mine itself was buried in a landslide during the disappearance incident, no one knows where Namiko went missing. It appears as though mysterious bodies of light, amongst other things, had been spotted there several times in the past, and it is spoken of as a mystery spot in Hanuda Village.[2]
